    Bio

Kay Hare is a British abstract painter based in Kent, England. Her landscape oil paintings are centred around believing that anything is possible and that our subconscious impressions determine our world.

Kay trained at Byam Shaw School of Art in London.

Kay loves colour, and oil paint is the perfect medium to explore juxtapositions and compositions. Oil paint has flexibility, allowing alchemy, accidents and surprises to take over.

Kay lived and worked in London for over ten years, having various studios and exhibiting with an art gallery in Notthinghill and corporate institutions. Inspired by the light in the Cote d’Azur, Kay moved to the South of France in 2010 to concentrate on painting. Her studio overlooked the Mediterranean, and the light was a constant source of inspiration.

During the pandemic, Kay moved back to the UK and encouraged by social media embraced a vegan diet. Working from her studio in the garden, her paintings have been inspired by the Kent countryside, birds, horses and the different atmosphere of a colder climate. Having lived in various places, her paintings reflect a tapestry of experiences.

Kay's work has been exhibited in private banks in Monaco, commercial galleries, community-led projects, and she has many private collections worldwide.

    Past Works

‘Illuminate’ oil on linen 1x2m diptych

This painting is long and narrow and suited a boardroom in a bank. It livens up the room as well as not being too distracting for meetings. There is a subtle sprinkling of natural gemstone diamonds that shines with the sunlight or a torch.
